processmapping

During the Tuesday morning Pre-Congress workshop, “Process Mapping: Driving Process Improvement,” presenters reviewed how to drive process improvement by utilizing process maps to understand, document, and improve organizational processes. Attendees also learned how creating detailed process maps can enable them to identify and improve all aspects of their current processes and ensure efficiencies.

The workshop was led by Michelle Ganzer, CPP, Payroll Manager for Sensient Technologies Corporation and Michael Schoelles, CPP, Director of Payroll Services for Clean Harbors. Ganzer said it was important for payroll professionals to understand the benefits of process mapping.

“Payroll professionals have many processes to achieve a specific purpose,” Ganzer told Congress Today prior to the workshop. “However, some may not be documented. Process mapping identifies steps in sequential order including associated input/output and interfaces.”

The workshop provided tips on when, what, why, and how to map processes that will result in process improvements and documentation. Ganzer and Schoelles said they consider process mapping fun and productive.

“You can start simple and develop a process to be more complex based on the purpose of mapping,” Ganzer said. “Don’t be afraid to get started!”
