Deloitte BenchmarkingDeloitte teamed up with the American Payroll Association (APA) and the Global Payroll Management Institute (GPMI) in 2019 to produce the most robust and comprehensive payroll benchmarking survey in the market.

Highlights of the results of that survey, which captured more than 1,400 responses from over 750 distinct organizations across 55 countries spanning seven different industries, will be presented in a public forum for the first time on Thursday during Congress Xstream.

Deloitte initially joined forces with the APA and GPMI in 2018 to produce one of the largest global payroll-focused surveys and collection of payroll data to date. Like the 2018 survey, the 2019 survey targeted experienced professionals in a wide range of industries who lead, or are directly involved with, the payroll function through in-house processing, outsourcing, or a shared services function at their respective organizations.

The 2019 survey has more participants, providing a wider range of organizations in terms of size and geography. It also has more questions, providing greater insights into payroll organizations—including demographics, operations, outsourcing, processing, service delivery, next-generation technologies, and employee experience.

The survey was initially introduced during Deloitte’s workshop session at the APA’s 37th Annual Congress in Long Beach, California, in May 2019. It then officially opened in early June to Deloitte clients, APA members, GPMI subscribers, APA Annual Congress attendees, and other Deloitte partners.
