Teach Paycheck Basics Virtually with Your Chapter

You and your chapter members are officially invited to join Team Payroll USA and teach students in the community about paycheck basics during Money Matters National Education Day on Thursday, September 10!

As all payroll professionals know, 2020 brought on a realm of changes, including significant updates to the Form W-4 for the first time since 1987! The updated Money Matters “Bring Home the Gold” curriculum will help instructors guide students through the process of filling out the new Form W-4. The presentation will also cover how net pay is calculated, the differences between electronic payment methods like direct deposit and paycards, over-time pay, and much more.TgrayMM

This year, Money Matters National Education Day may look a little different. Students and teachers around the U.S. may still not be in traditional classrooms when school begins again this fall. Luckily, with the digital versions of the “Bring Home the Gold” student and teacher workbooks and PowerPoint presentation, the program is just as easy to present virtually as it is in-person. For resources to reach out and reserve a teaching spot with local high schools, trade schools, or youth groups, visit our resources page.

If you and your chapter are unable to present a lesson on September 10, volunteers can schedule a lesson anytime in September or October and still qualify for 1 RCH, a citation of recognition, and credit in the National Education Champion Regional Contest. Chapters are also encouraged to include MMNED participation details in their entries for the NPW Educational Outreach & Community Service Chapter Contest where it can earn fantastic prizes, like a complimentary registration to the 2021 Annual Congress in Nashville, TN.

Thank you in advance to all our volunteers and local chapters that will make a difference in the lives of teenagers and young adults this year. Get a head start and sign up to become a Money Matters volunteer today!
