Successfully Re-Affiliate Your Chapter in 4 Easy Steps

Each year, APA Local Chapters must re-affiliate, or renew their chapter with the APA, by updating their current membership profiles and starting new officer terms. If you have recently elected new officers or your officer terms have expired, use the following four steps to successfully re-affiliate your chapter.

  1. Review the ‘American Payroll Institute, Inc. Policy Statement Regarding Chapter Affiliation Adopted June 25, 1986’, located on pages 47-50 in the Local Chapter Guide.
  2. Fill out the ‘Application for Chapter Re-Affiliation’, located on pages 57-60 of the Local Chapter Guide.
    1. Have the Chapter President initial each section as instructed to verify their understanding of APA chapter policies.
    2. Have all Chapter Officers (who must be APA members) fill out their personal information as instructed.
    3. Indicate any additional chapter leaders, board members, and those who lead committees on the last page to confirm all chapter leaders are registered with APA.
  3. Produce a spreadsheet (in Excel format only, no PDFs please) containing the following member and officer information in separate columns:
    1. APA National ID# (if applicable)
    2. First Name
    3. Last Name
    4. Company Name
    5. Company Title
    6. Address
    7. City
    8. State
    9. Zip
    10. Phone
    11. Fax
    12. Email
    13. Date Local Chapter Officer Terms End
  4. Submit the form and the spreadsheet at the same time to APA’s Chapter Relations department via email ChapterRelations@americanpayroll.org or fax (210) 281-3976.

It’s as simple as that! If you are not sure when your Chapter’s affiliation expires, please contact the Chapter Relations department at ChapterRelations@americanpayroll.org or 210-226-4600.
