Fun Facts to Know About National Payroll Week!

Dust off your chapter banners and break out the balloons, because National Payroll Week® (NPW) is almost upon us! Payroll professionals are often the unsung heroes of their organizations who deserve to be recognized and celebrated! The Chapter Relations Department will be promoting National Payroll Week® during the entire month of August through September 8th.

To kick off our month long celebration, here are some fun facts about National Payroll Week.

  • National Payroll Week® is a public awareness campaign designed to recognize the efforts of professionals in the payroll industry. Hosted by the American Payroll Association, NPW is held annually during the week of Labor Day in the United States.
  • The NPW Slogan, “America Works Because We’re Working For America” was worded to illustrate the unique partnership among America’s workers, payroll professionals, and critical government programs such as social security, Medicare, fair labor standards, and child support.
  • National Payroll Week also doubles as an educational campaign through Money Matters National Educational Day. Volunteers teach area teens about the elements of a paycheck, explain the amount of taxes that are withheld, and how those taxes are calculated.
  • National Payroll week first launched in 1996, making this wonderful festivity 21 years old!richmond1996.jpg                                                   The Richmond Chapter receiving a goverment proclamation during the first NPW in 1996.
