2020 Highlights and Chapter Leader Resources

Start off the new year strong by reviewing APA’s latest updates and resources for chapter leaders on the #APAChapters blog.

2021 is finally here! A new year is a symbol of new hope, new beginnings, and endless possibilities. As you look to the future and plan your chapter events for 2021, take a moment to look back at the latest chapter resources and updates available to help:

New Chapter Guidelines

The goal of the new guidelines is to ensure all chapters can use virtual meeting tools to meet their members’ educational needs. The key updates for chapter meetings, one-day events, study groups, and statewides or regional meetings can be found in the Chapter Leaders Blog and the Local Chapter Guide.

Chapter Zoom License

On October 8, the APA began offering APA-affiliated chapters a special Zoom license for purchase. The licenses are part of the new guidelines for virtual meetings announced in July. Chapters can use the Zoom license for regular chapter meetings, certification study groups, chapter events (when unable to meet in person), chapter social gatherings, networking sessions, and chapter board meetings. APA has secured a discounted rate of $170 for a yearlong subscription to the Zoom Business plan.

Chapter Twitter Chats

In 2020, the APA’s Chapter Relations department hosted three online #APAChapters chats to give chapter leaders an opportunity to network remotely and share advice for utilizing a Government Liaison Officer, organizing study groups, and leading a local chapter. Links to summaries of each Chapter Twitter Chat can be found below:

Chapter Leadership Webinar, “New Guidelines for Virtual Chapter Meetings"

On October 9, Regional Advisors Jim Bolek, CPP, and Jon Schausten, CPP, presented this webinar so Chapter Leaders could learn how the new guidelines will impact their chapters. They reviewed the guidelines for virtual components of chapter events, announced availability of the Chapter Zoom License, and discussed important guidelines, policies, and resources for chapters.
